Nuits-Saint-Georges: Domaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles Premier Cru 'Les Poulettes' Rouge 2016
Sisters (and 4th generation winemakers), Christine and Claire, produce this well-balanced Pinot Noir from the excellent 'Les Poulettes' Premier Cru site which lies on the southern side of the village at the foot of the Vallerots coombe.
The Premier Cru wines of Nuits-Saint-Georges (one of the France's most evocative viticultural names) have a reputation as being some of the most muscular of the Côte de Nuits. The Gavignet-Bethanie 'Les Poulettes' has a firm structure and displays strawberry aromas in its youth, developing a complex palate of mushroom and truffle with age.

Domaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles
Domaine Gavignet-Béthanie et Filles was formed in the 1970s when third generation wine-maker Christian Gavignet (whose father Gaby was the winemaker at the Hospices des Nuits) married Michèle Béthanie, who had family vine-holdings herself. Their daughters, Christine and Claire, have successfully run this 9 hectare family enterprise since their first vintage in 2001.
