Pfalz: Stefan Meyer 'Aus Rhodt' Chardonnay 2018
After working at wineries in Austria and the New World, Stefan Meyer became the third generation to take charge of his family's 16 hectare estate in 2011. His 'minimal intervention' philosophy yields wines of great charm and character and this Chardonnay (a relative rarity in Germany, where only 600 hectares are planted) nails it.
Stefan Meyer's 'Aus Rhodt' Chardonnay is rich in orchard fruit aromas and offset by a mineral-edged acidity, a touch of oak and a wonderful creamy texture. Very Burgundian!

Stefan Meyer's 3rd generation family estate sits on the edge of the Pfälzerwald nature reserve in the picturesque village of Rhodt unter Rietburg. Specialising in Burgundian varieties and Riesling on chalky limestone soils, his policy of minimal intervention in winemaking allows nature to take its course. Lengthy warm ferments, often up to the summer following the vintage, yield wines of great charm and character.
