Pick of Pascal (Chéron Selection)
Save £7.00

The Pascal selection has been a staple of our Christmas offers for longer than we care to remember, but it proves so popular each year that it's impossible to exclude. In fact, just the Côtes du Rhône and Vacqueyras are now labelled as Pascal Frères - the Crozes-Hermitage and Cairanne arrive in different guises but both are the work of the same négociant extraordinaire - Yves Chéron. Last, but not least, is Yves' stonking, old-vine Gigondas from his own estate below the Dentelles de Montmirail.

This mixed case contains three bottles each of:

Côtes du Rhône: Pascal Frères 'Cuvée Personelle' 2018
Crozes-Hermitage: Héritiers Chéron-Misset 'La Grand Comtadine' 2019

Along with two bottles each of:

Cairanne: Domaine Les Eschaffins Rouge 2016
Vacqueyras: Pascal Frères 'Cuvée Spéciale' 2019
Gigondas: Domaine du Grand Montmirail 'Vieilles Vignes' 2019

This mixed case includes

3 x Côtes du Rhône: Pascal Frères 'Cuvée Personelle' 2018£0.00

A négociant wine that has graced these pages for decades coming from our old chum Yves Chéron's 'Pascal Frères' stable. Their über-reliable 'Cuvée Personelle', from a Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre blend, has deservedly garnered a loyal following. It drinks very well with 3-5 years bottle-age.

3 x Crozes-Hermitage: Héritiers Chéron-Misset 'La Grand Comtadine' 2019£0.00

A traditional, mid-weight Crozes-Hermitage from Yves Chéron (Pascal Frères), newly labelled as ‘La Grand Comtadine’ (a reference to the property bought by Yves’ father in the 1960s near Vacqueyras). With classic Syrah farmyard and saddle leather aromas preceding a palate of juicy red berry fruit offset by firm, well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity, this can't fail to please when matched with a good steak or confit duck.

2 x Cairanne: Domaine Les Eschaffins Rouge 2016£0.00

"The 2016 Cairanne reveals an exotic bouquet of plums, blueberries, mint, bay leaf, and hints of sappy flowers. With a green edge in its aromatics, it stays beautifully fruit-driven on the palate, has medium body, good acidity, and moderate tannins, all making for a complex, charming Cairanne to drink over the coming 4-6 years.
Drink 2018-2024. 88/100."

2 x Vacqueyras: Pascal Frères 'Cuvée Spéciale' 2019£0.00

This Vacqueyras wine is a silky, spicy Southern Rhône Grenache blend that impresses customers and staff alike in successive vintages. Subtle enough to enjoy on its own, but sublime when paired with game dishes.

2 x Gigondas: Domaine du Grand Montmirail 'Vieilles Vignes' 2019£0.00

This Gigondas wine is an outstanding Southern Rhône blend from another bastion of reliability in the vicinity, our old friend Yves Chéron. It cries out for bold, rustic cuisine and will mature gracefully for a decade or longer in good vintages.
