Rheinhessen: Jürgen Hofmann 'Steinberg' Chardonnay Trocken 2017

Talented winemaker Jürgen Hofmann makes just 100 cases of this delicious, barrel-fermented Chardonnay in each vintage. If you are fans of nervy white Burgundy without the hefty price-tag (and who isn't?), this one's for you.

Tasting Notes
Produced from a single-vineyard site 'Steinberg' which lies on chalky soils in the St. Johann municipality, just south of Bingen.

The Rheinhessen is the largest of Germany's 13 quality wine producing regions with around 25,000 hectares under vine, 70% of which produces white wine. Bordered by the Rhine river to the East and North and the Nahe river in the West, the soil types are varied and the undulating terrain supports mixed farming alongside viticulture.
