Rioja: Marqués de Zearra Crianza 2015
We know it's across the Pyrenees from our usual patch, but we couldn't resist buying this crackerjack red Rioja that practically drinks itself. Tempranillo - with 10% Mazuelo (Carignan) - from a small bodega in Fuenmajor, it has 24 months in barrel and 3 years in bottle prior to release, illustrating the great value to be found in La Rioja.
A ripe, textbook example of Rioja with coffee aromas and creamy chocolate flavours.

Bodegas I Petralanda
In the early 1980s Iñake Petralanda Uria Zearra was finding it difficult to find a reliable source of good wines for his restaurant in Bilbao, so he decided to make his own. Establishing a winery in his wife's home town of Fuenmajor in the heart of Rioja Alta in 1983, he hasn't looked back and now runs a thriving bodega.

Rioja: Marqués de Zearra Crianza - Yapp Brothers One Minute Review
Tom Ashworth reviews the Crianza from Bodega Zearra - in the heart of Rioja. Pure classic tempranillo, this has been aged for two years in cask and three year in bottle - ready to drink immediately. Cherry colour with coffee on the nose and mocha on the finish - ideal with lamb tagine or spicy pork.
