Saar: Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Bockstein Riesling Kabinett 2021
This style of well-balanced, off-dry German Riesling is a terrific food wine, in the same way as demi-sec Vouvray - partner with spicy beef short ribs!
The Von Kesselstatt estate owns 0.64ha of Ockfener Bockstein, a south-facing vineyard in the Saar tributary that opens up like a funnel upwards from 180m to 320, with shallow, heat-retaining soils of Devonian slate and greywacke sandstone.

Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt
A 650 year-old, family-run estate based in Trier in the Mosel, with prime vine-holdings in the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer valleys. The estate farms 46 hectares in total, 12 hectares of which are scattered among the extraordinary but challenging slopes of the Mosel.
Skillfully managed from 1983 until her sad passing in 2016 by the quality-focused owner Annegret Reh-Gartner (herself married to a two-star Michelin chef, Gerhard Gartner), this is one of the leading wineries in Germany and accordingly it is a member of the prestigious VDP association.

Saar: Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt Bockstein Riesling Kabinett - Yapp Brothers One Minute Review
Alex Bal reviews the Bockstein Kabinett Riesling from Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt - grown in the Saar region of Germany. Ripe fruit on the nose with a rich balanced palate, and a lower ABV of just 9.0 percent, ideal with seafood dishes.
