Phillippe & François Tiollier
Savoie is an ancient and isolated vine area which deploys idiosyncratic grape varieties (originally introduced by monks from Chartreuse) that are seldom encountered elsewhere – Jacquére and Roussette for white wines and Mondeuse for reds. The Tiollier family has nurtured vines in and around the village of Cruet on the steep slopes of the Isère valley for generations. Situated in the Regional Nature Reserve of the Massif des Baugeas, Philippe and François’s vines are spread over 47 acres of prime terroir and their fastidious approach to winemaking has turned Domaine de l’Idylle into a self-sustaining viticultural enterprise. Overgrown and abandoned parcels of vines have been carefully cleared and replanted and state of the art equipment has been installed in the ancient cellars.
