Vacqueyras: Domaine du Grand Montmirail 2016
"The 2016 Vacqueyras is classic all the way and gives up tons of white pepper, cedarwood, garrigue, and assorted red and black fruits. It's incredibly charming, balanced, has terrific purity, and fine tannin. I'd happily drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years, and probably longer. The blend is 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah. 92/100, drink 2018-2026."

A dense powerful Grenache-based belter with notes of blackcurrants spices and garrigue. Lovely, ripe plum and black pepper bouquet and briary, hedgerow berry flavours on the palate.
Négociant-vinificateur Yves Chéron produces highly-accessible, fruit-forward, Grenache-based reds that have acquired a loyal following among the Yapp cognoscenti. His 'Grand Montmirail' bottlings of Vacqueyras and Gigondas are from his personal vine-holdings and have more concentration and aging potential than the 'Pascal Frères' cuvées, which are immediately accessible from release.

Yves Chéron
Yves Chéron (aka Pascal Frères) is a Négociant-Vinificateur – a wine merchant and winemaker, who lives on an attractive estate below the Dentelles de Montmirail. He produces his own Gigondas & Vacqueyras (both named Grand Montmirail) from vineyards at the domaine, as well as vinifying wines from bought in grapes at his négociant enterprise, Pascal Frères, which is situated between the two villages.
