Domaine de La Grange des Pères
Having trained under top producers Gérard Chave (Hermitage), Jean-François Coche-Dury (Côte d’Or) and Éloi Dürrbach (Trévallon), Laurent Vaillé bought his own land near Aniane in the Hérault valley in the late 1980s. The high-altitude vineyards had to be created with the help of dynamite and bulldozers and yields today are still eye-wateringly low. Like neighbour Mas de Daumas Gassac, his wines are bottled under a lowly Vin de Pays classification which belie their outstanding quality.
