Staatliche Weinbaudomäne Oppenheim

Founded in 1895 by Ernst Ludwig, the Grand duke of Hesse and Rhine, this winery owns 23 hectares of prime vineyards along the Rhine, planted with Riesling, Silvaner and Spätburgunder. The estate is a member of the Association of German Quality and Prädikat Wine Estates – a rollcall of the top 200 wineries in the country – allowing it to use the rather ominous-looking eagle on its bottles!
