When we tentatively trialled a few German wines a couple of years ago, Grauer Burgunder and Spätburgunder sounded alien and we were uncertain of their commercial appeal. Happily, it transpires that there is a ready market in the U.K. for well made, cool climate, single varietal wines and we have been able to extend our portfolio accordingly. This would not have been possible without the invaluable assistance of expatriate Master of Wine Alison Flemming, our Teutonic talent scout and decoder of German wine lore.
