Bourgueil Wine

Bourgueil lies on the Western flank of Touraine on the Northern bank of the Loire and benefits from a mild climate with low rainfall. As at neighbouring Chinon and Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, it is the Cabernet Franc grape that dominates here although lesser volumes of Cabernet Sauvignon are permitted. The Bourgeuil is more muscular and complex than the Saint-Nicolas, with bright cranberry and red plum characteristics, mid-weight tannins and no hard edges. It's a versatile wine for pairing with summer dishes and can be cellared for 3 to 5 years.
