Yapp Own Label Wines
Over the course of 2023, our own label wines are gradually being spruced up with the smart Quentin Blake-design which will be well-known to readers. They will still be bottled under screw-cap to conserve freshness and eliminate the danger of cork taint. The 'Yapp' blanc is made from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Grenache Blanc and is dry and zesty and intended to be enjoyable with or without food throughout the year. Its sibling rosé is made from Grenache Noir, Merlot and Syrah and has an attractive coral-pink colour and plenty of summer berry scents and flavours preceding a crisp, fresh finish. Completing the tricolore is a supple red made from pure Cabernet Sauvignon. With a bouquet of blackcurrants and mid-weight palate of hedgerow fruit supported by ripe tannins, it drinks well from release. A more recent addition is a red Côtes du Rhône blended from Grenache Noir and Syrah and has briary 'forest floor' aromas and a plummy palate with peppery undertones. It is ideal with steak frites or cassoulet and is good to have on standby for impromptu celebrations.
