We kick-off 2024 with three aromatic whites from Provence, Rheinhessen and the Rhône. The Ambrosio Collomb family's Vermentino-based Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Blanc 2022 is a sure-fire partner for seafood or grilled courgettes with pesto. Jürgen Hofmann's crisp melon-scented Pinot Gris pairs with simple grilled chicken or butter-roasted sole, while the Guibert family's versatile Viognier could be served with tapenade starters or enjoyed on its own.

Continuing our food matching theme for the reds, we recommend cassoulet (preferably de Castelnaudary) with Philippe Girard's Malepère - a 'Bordeaux blend' of Cabernet Franc and Merlot from the Western edge of the Languedoc. Jean-Pierre Py's biodynamic red Corbières will go down a treat with a rib-eye steak or sausages and mash, and the Saint-Pourçain's supple blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir is sublime with salmon or soft cheese.

This mixed case is also available as all red or all white, and serves as our 'Sommelier Service' case. If you are looking for a regular delivery of seasonal wines fixed at the same price each month, you can explore the four different subscription options here.

This mixed case includes

2 x Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence: Domaine des Oullières 'Harmonie' Blanc 2022£0.00

A gorgeous white wine from Provence which has been particularly well received on these shores. Food and wine matching expert Fiona Beckett described it as 'An intense, fragrant, Vermentino-based white to drink with seafood', and we heartily concur!

2 x IGP Pays d'Oc: Moulin de Gassac Viognier 2023£0.00

The Moulin de Gassac wines from Mas de Daumas Gassac make characterful varietal bottlings at accessible prices. Their Viognier bottling comes from vineyards bordering the Étang de Thau – the vast saltwater lagoons that make up much of the coastline from Montpellier southwards. Crisp yet floral acacia notes with perfumed stone-fruit aromas, this textbook example of Viognier has lovely ripe fruit and silky length.

2 x Rheinhessen: Jürgen Hofmann Grauer Burgunder Trocken 2022£0.00

To the north of the Rheinhessen lies the renowned Hundertgulden vineyard with its chalky soils that give great minerality to their wines. Winemaker Jürgen Hofmann’s Grauerburgunder has aromatic notes of melon and banana and a zesty palate with plenty of bite on the finish (referenced by a line drawing of teeth on the label). It’s a versatile wine for drinking with or without food and pairs perfectly with light poultry and herby fish dishes. Certified organic and vegan.

2 x Saint-Pourçain: 'La Ficelle' Rouge 2022£0.00

Designed for early drinking, this Saint-Pourçain red wine is a supple blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir. It displays raspberry and violet aromas followed by light, redcurrant fruit on the palate, making it the ideal wine accompaniment for soft cheeses and charcuterie.

2 x Malepère: Domaine Girard 'Cuvée Tradition' 2020£0.00

Ever on the lookout for impressive wines from far-flung regions, this Malepère - a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot from the Western edge of the Languedoc - tickled our fancy. Enjoy with a cassoulet from nearby Castelnaudary.

2 x Corbières: Domaine Py 'Cuvée Mondière' Rouge 2021£0.00

Jean-Pierre Py's red Corbières wine 'Cuvée Mondière' hails from a blend of organically-grown Syrah, Grenache and old-vine Carignan that are vinified separately in vat (75%) and barrel (25%) prior to fastidious blending. It is a chest-thumping crowd-pleaser, full of the blushful Hippocrene, that will go down a treat with a rib-eye steak or sausages and mash.

Certified organic & bio-dynamic.
