Côtes du Rhône: Domaine de Durban Blanc 2022
Set against the dramatic backdrop of the granite cliffs of the Dentelles de Montmirail, the Leydier family’s white Côtes du Rhône owes more to the style of the Northern Rhône than the south. A blend of equal parts Marsanne and Roussanne, it is briefly matured in barrel to add body and texture. Floral and creamy with a lovely saline character, citrus acidity, stone fruit and good weight, it is terrific young but will cellar for a few years.
The Marsanne and Roussanne in this blend are planted on clay-limestone soils which give structure and elegance to the assemblage. Rich, refreshing yet with the supple weight of white peach and Sicilian lemon, this Côtes du Rhône is fermented cool in stainless steel vats to preserve aromas and flavours.
