Tasting Notes

The Equis team – Max and Antoine Graillot plus their partner Thomas Schmittel – planted these vines in 2009 on a steep slope at Mercurol in the north of the appellation. These are densely-planted at 10,000 plants per hectare, and low yielding - just 15 hl/ha.

Producer

Maxime Graillot

Maxime Graillot (who was born in 1977) has followed in his father Alain's footsteps, and after studying at the Dijon Wine School he struck out on his own in 2004 working 6.5 hectares of vines on a site called 'Les Pichères' close to his father's estate on the Chassis plateau in Crozes Hermitage. Maxime produces a light, forward drinking Spring-bottling of red Crozes Hermitage called 'Equinoxe' as well as a denser, more senior wine under his Domaine des Lises label.
