Rioja: Viña Zearra Blanco 2022
Made to be drunk in its youth, this refreshing Rioja Blanco from Bodegas Petralanda with its eyecatching lime-green cork, label and capsule is made from Viura and Tempranillo Blanco. It has a bouquet of daffodil pollen and citrus with lean mineral notes, a touch of Galia melon and a lovely 'vif' lemon verbena, lime peel and green orchard fruit finish.
The blend of 70% Viura (aka Macabeo or Macabeu) and 30% Tempranillo Blanco is made in the 'Joven' or 'young' style and intended for early drinking preferably ‘a la fresca’ (outdoors).
Serve lightly-chilled with grilled fish, seafood or poultry paella or simply as an aperitif.

Bodegas I Petralanda (Marqués de Zearra)
In the early 1980s Iñake Petralanda Uria Zearra was finding it difficult to find a reliable source of good wines for his restaurant in Bilbao, so he decided to make his own. Establishing a winery in his wife's home town of Fuenmajor in the heart of Rioja Alta in 1983, he hasn't looked back and now runs a thriving bodega. The family divide their offerings under two labels: Viña Zearra for young and crianza wine and Marqués de Zearra for Reserva and Gran Reservas.
