Featured wine
Very pale, clear and dry white wine with a faint note of elderflower on the nose. Mid-palate, there is wonderfully crisp, citric fruit backed by brine and flint undertones with a clean, fresh finish. The white Saint Pourçain ‘Cuvée Printanière’ comes from an idiosyncratic but harmonious blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Aligoté and, local speciality, Trésallier.
"This spritely white is made from aligote, chardonnay and Sauvignon blanc, a cocktail of zingy white grapes that entrances the senses. Drink as an aperitif or with goats cheese starters or crustacea." Matthew Jukes, The Daily Mail.
We are working hard to prepare our new wine list for release at the start of March. Inevitably, this generates a few ‘bin end’ wines, where we are either discontinuing a line or have a few cases remaining of an older vintage.
In order to make room for new listings and vintages, we can offer the wines below at a discount from 2011 prices - as well as with free delivery on all orders, whatever the value, until February 29th.
Discerning drinker, Online wine
"Probably the UK's leading specialist in French regional wines, especially from the Rhône and Loire valleys. It currently offers 300 bottles, many from small producers and obscure areas. For the rest of February delivery is free, after that, free for orders over £100, £10 otherwise. Try Château d'Epiré 2009, Savennières (£14.95). It's dry but rounded and surprisingly rich - a fine example of this classic Loire chenin blanc."
Andrew Neather - London Evening Standard, 16th February 2012.
February Food and Wine Matching
While the weather is still icy (and it feels as if winter has only just arrived) some warming food is called for. A hearty dish, something spicy, and something wickedly rich.
