In our Monday morning planning meeting we were, of course, talking about Christmas - and the two-day Christmas Tasting and Sale at Yapp HQ this weekend. It was noted that the first day of the sale was also 'Black Friday' – and that set my musical ear-worms racing as it was an easy jump from 'Black Friday' to 'Black Sabbath'...
Colours and days of the week made up my playlist on the way home: 'Monday' - The Jam, 'Ruby Tuesday' - Rolling Stones, 'Wednesday Week' - The Undertones, 'Thursdays Child' - David Bowie, 'Friday on my Mind' - Easy Beats, '10.15 Saturday Night' - The Cure, 'Every Day is Like Sunday' - Morrissey. (Ever since hearing the first song I can remember hearing on the radio - 'Michelle' by The Beatles - I've spent far too much time absorbing bands melodies, chords, names and lyrics).
So, hopefully you will have 'Friday on your Mind' as the first day of the legendary Yapp Christmas Sale and Tasting. It's always the busiest sale of the year and we expect this year to be no exception – so if you are planning on paying us a visit here are some top tips from past experience:
• Friday is less busy than Saturday.
• Saturday morning is less busy than Saturday afternoon.
• Tasting room open from 9.30am.
• Taste over 30 delicious wine and stock up for Christmas!
The good folk from Chesil Smokery in Dorset will be with us again to tempt you on the way in (or the way out for that matter) of the tasting room, and Claude the Butler will be serving his fresh coffee and cakes, should you fancy a break at any point during the day.
We're just now setting up the courtyard here in Mere to be ready to roll on Friday and Saturday – as always, it's free to come along, all the wines in the Tasting will be reduced from our normal list price, and there's a £12 collection discount on any case of wine not in the sale.
Regulars will testify that Yapp tastings and sales are convivial affairs, great fun so we look forward to seeing you this weekend!
