Gevrey-Chambertin: Domaine des Varoilles 'Clos des Varoilles' 1er Cru 2015
Burghound.com
Allen Meadows - Burghound
A more restrained if similar nose speaks of plum, anise, floral and earth aromas that are trimmed in somewhat more subtle wood influence. There is excellent size, weight and concentration to the big-bodied and powerful flavors that possess better depth and persistence on the ever-so-slightly warm finish that is notably firmer. At least moderate patience will be required. Outstanding. 91-93/100, drink 2027+ (tasted 2017).IGP Alpilles: Domaine de Trévallon 2014
In Pursuit of Yappiness
Richard Hemming MW - JancisRobinson.com
Ferrous, earthy and herbal, with the stemmy style of great Syrah – or possibly that’s the green-pepper scent of Cabernet. So utterly delicious! Really stunning, effortless complexity even now, with a long, earthy finish. Drink 2018-2029. 18+ points.IGP Alpilles: Domaine de Trévallon 2014
Vinous Lockdown Special (October 2020)
Antonio Galloni - Vinous.com
The 2014 Alpilles Rouge is in a gorgeous place right now. Dried herbs, rose petal, mint, sweet red cherry, licorice and pipe tobacco give the 2014 tremendous aromatic nuance and overall presence. The 2014 is an especially mid-weight, gracious Trévallon that is just starting to drink well. While it may not have the richness of some of the other vintages in this report, the 2014 is exuquisitely beautiful today. I expect it will age gracefully on its acids and overall balance. Drink 2022-2034. 94 points.Chablis: Domaine Christophe Camu 2023

It has that elusive whisper of honey on the nose – it's there and it's gone – and a green apple-laden, bone-dry finish. It's fresh and – thanks to the fruit of 50-year-old vines – intense and concentrated.Saint-Péray: Domaine Clape 2022
Cornas & St-Péray 2022: Report and top-scoring wines
Matt Walls - Decanter.com
Quince and pear. Rich and ripe but not overly so, it's silky on the palate, fairly high in alcohol, enjoyably full and opulent, with a fresh core. Includes a new parcel this year of 70-year-old Marsanne, so is now around 90% Marsanne, 10% Roussanne. The rest is a mix of 60-year-old and seven-year-old vines. Vinified in oak. Drinking Window: 2023 - 2027. 93/100.Tinto Negro: Uco Valley Malbec Cabernet Franc 'Limestone Block' 2020
Argentina on the Couch: Malbec, Terroir and Other Trends (Nov 2021)
Joaquin Hidalgo - Vinous.com
The 2020 Malbec Tintonegro Limestone Block is mixed with 12% Cabernet Franc, both from Los Chacayes, Uco Valley, where the vines grow in rocky, sandy soils with traces of calcium carbonate. Aged for 12 months in 15% new used oak. It is an intense, reddish purple. The 2020 offers rather liqueur-like aromas and hints of plum and thyme over an attractive violet backdrop. Juicy in the mouth, the fine, chalky tannins vie for dominance initially before lending a pleasant shape to the flow. The flavor is intense and sustained, leaving a touch of fruit behind at the end. Drink 2021 - 2023. 92/100.Gevrey-Chambertin: Frédéric Magnien 'Vieilles Vignes' 2021
Match of the week: Roast Veal & Gevrey-Chambertin
Fiona Beckett - matchingfoodandwine.com
It was heady and fragrant, full of wonderfully pure fruit which showed off the delicate flavour of the veal and morels and an unctuously creamy sauce.Sancerre: Domaine André Vatan 'Maulin Bèle' Rouge 2022
Spectator Wine Club
Jonathan Ray - Spectator Wine Club, March 2024
The 2022 Domaine André Vatan 'Maulin Bèle' Sancerre Rouge is a pinot noir of such easy appeal that it demanded inclusion. The Vatan family have supplied Yapp Bros for over 50 years and their white Sancerre is famously fine. This, though, is far rarer, made in tiny quantities with the same unerring skill and attention. With bright, ripe cherry fruit, it's light and fresh with typical earthy, smoky pinot notes and it works well lightly chilled. Gosh it's good!IGP de la Drôme: Domaine Lombard 'Azalée' 2022
Spectator Wine Club
Jonathan Ray - Spectator Wine Club, March 2024
If you like swanky Rhône but quail at the price, then head for the biodynamic/organic 2022 Domaine Lombard 'Azalée' from Brézème in the north of the Côtes du Rhône AOC. A blend of 90 per cent Syrah and 10 per cent Viognier (à la Côte Rôtie), it's full of juicy red/black fruit lifted and softened by the co-fermented white and a touch of carbonic maceration. Lively, fresh and affable, the bottle was emptied in a trice. Tsk, that darn wife of mine...Yapp Côtes du Rhône Red 2022

Jonathan Ray - Spectator Wine Club, March 2024
The 2022 Yapp Bros Red Côtes du Rhône is the wine that Mrs R and I fought over the most, because it's so unfussily, brazenly tasty and because only a fool stands between my wife and her chosen bottle. A blend of Grenache and Syrah from the aforementioned Vignerons Ardéchois, it's plummy, juicy, soft, silky and so damn moreish that I can't imagine anyone not clasping it to them in sheer joy.
