Menetou Salon: Domaine Jean Teiller Blanc 2018
The atypically ripe, juicy style of Loire Sauvignon Blanc is almost certainly influenced by the year that Patricia Teiller and husband Olivier Luneau (who now run the estate) spent winemaking in New Zealand.
|Style||White Wine, Sec, Light-bodied, Non Sparkling|
|Wine Region||Loire, Menetou Salon|
|Grape Variety (Cépage)||Sauvignon Blanc|
|Food & Wine Matching||Seafood|
|Cellarage||Best drunk within two years of the vintage.|
|Vinification||Vinification takes place in stainless steel vats after the grapes have been entirely de-stalked. The wine is left on its lees for a short period of time and is then fined with bentonite and chilled to 5ºC before being filtered prior to an early spring bottling.|
|Alcohol By Volume (%)||13|
The Teiller family are amongst Yapp Brothers’ longest-serving suppliers and theirs is a typical small family business. Annual production of the white, from Sauvignon Blanc, is in the region of 50,000 bottles, half of which is sold direct from the cellar door. The family also produces fine Menetou Salon rosé and red wine from pure Pinot Noir. Jean-Jacques and his wife Monique are now ably assisted by their daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Olivier who met in Beaune where Patricia was studying oenology. Following a placement in New Zealand, the Teiller’s philosophy today is “Cautious modernization with the utmost respect for tradition.”View more wines from this producer...
