Magnums for Merrymaking
£340.00
Save £15.50

While the sale of half-bottles saw a boom in 2020, the trade in magnums understandably languished somewhat during periods of confinement. However, if you are planning barbecues and beach parties in the coming months, or just want a good bottle 'on the go' for a day or two, this sextet provides great value for a wide-range of occasions.

This mixed case contains one (1.5 litre) magnum each of:

SPARKLING WHITE:
Yapp Champagne: Brut NV

WHITE:
Brézème: Domaine Lombard Blanc 2019

ROSÉ:
Cassis: Clos Sainte Magdeleine Rosé 2019

RED:
Saumur Champigny: Domaine Filliatreau 'Vieilles Vignes' 2005
Pic Saint-Loup: Mas Bruguière 'l'Arbouse' 2019
Bierzo: Antoine Graillot & Raúl Pérez 'Encinas' 2017

This mixed case includes

1 x Yapp Champagne£0.00

Our popular own label 'Yapp' Champagne, which is made from a blend of 50% Pinot Meunier and 25% each of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. It is a fresh, light, uplifting wine that has a fine expression of fruit and does not demand any food accompaniment.

1 x Brézème: Domaine Lombard Blanc 2019£0.00

An elegant, attractive Brézème Blanc that reveals aromas and flavours of nuts and orchard fruit prior to a clean, dry finish. This white Brézème wine benefits from decanting and should not be served too chilled. Ideal as an aperitif or with seafood, fish or poultry. Certified organic.

1 x Cassis: Clos Sainte Magdeleine Rosé 2019£0.00

As well as the Clos Sainte Magdeleine blanc, François Sack's estate makes a spot of Cassis rosé from Provençal staples Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre. This wine has delicate red berry aromas and a savoury, dry finish and it too has a definite affinity for seafood - lobster, langoustines or a simple dressed crab would suffice.

1 x Saumur Champigny: Domaine Filliatreau 'Vieilles Vignes' 2005£0.00

A rare opportunity to buy mature Cabernet Franc from one of the iconic red wine estates of the Loire in an excellent, ripe vintage.

1 x Pic Saint-Loup: Mas Bruguière 'l'Arbouse' 2019£0.00

The Pic Saint-Loup Mas Bruguière 'l'Arbouse' is a rich, compelling red wine with a wealth of wild garrigue herb and berry scents and a lovely, pitchy palate of black fruit and fine-grained tannins.

1 x Bierzo: Antoine Graillot & Raúl Pérez 'Encinas' 2017£0.00

"I tasted the second bottled vintage of the 2017 Encinas, a Mencía red from Bierzo produced by Antoine Graillot with the help of Raúl Pérez. The grapes came from different plots of old vines in different villages (Otero and Valtuille) and fermented with 100% full clusters in concrete vats; the wine matured in a large oak vat. It has a complex nose that intermixes aromas of violets, smoked meats, earth and licorice, quite subtle and harmonious. It's open and expressive, quite attractive and clean, with a medium-bodied palate and very fine tannins. It finishes long and tasty, almost salty. It was bottled just before the 2018 harvest. Drink 2019-2024. 93/100."
